Join me in the heart of the Yukon as we dive into a day filled with exploration, encounters, and the thrill of the unexpected. As the morning sun breaks through the wilderness, I find myself amidst a tranquil camp, surrounded by the whispering embrace of nature. It's the perfect time to take a moment and review the remarkable Bluetti EB3A – a vital companion that enables me to film this adventure. Our path leads to a mesmerizing stretch of the Hart River. Despite the river's enchanting beauty, the current's slowness and the numerous bends pose challenges, making every stroke a determination to conquer time itself. Yet, amidst this challenge, I seize the opportunity to cast my line, as the Hart's crystal-clear waters hold promises of Arctic Graylings beneath the surface. A chance encounter with a majestic moose is a reminder of the wilderness's wonder. I draw closer to this gentle giant, a testament to the harmony between humankind and the untamed world. Thirst quenches my senses, and my eyes catch a glimpse of snow-capped mountains in the distance. Consulting the map reveals a stream joining the Hat River, a lifeline of nourishing water. I venture up, tasting the pristine water that the wilderness generously offers. The path reveals yet another surprise – a cache nestled amidst the trees. A canvas tent, a wood stove, and remnants of a journey gone by, telling stories of prospecting and adventure. It's a poignant reminder that the wild holds secrets and echoes of those who've explored before us. As the evening approaches, I find respite in the embrace of a river braid, a convergence of waters. Here, nature beckons me to consider a campsite on a welcoming sandbar. With fishing rod in hand, I test the waters, catching dinner and casting my decision to make this spot my home for the night. Setting up camp, I am ready to dine, turning the bounty of the river into a campfire feast. Join me in this immersive adventure. #JimBairdAdventurer #Outdoors #Yukon Hart of the YUKON- 14 Days Solo Camping in the Yukon Wilderness - E.5- Bull Caribou & Wild Berries Welcome back to the wild journey of 'Hart of the Yukon Solo' in Episode 5. Today's chapter is a testament to the resilience needed to conquer the untamed Yukon. This day pushed me to my limits, unveiling a series of encounters and challenges that define the heart of adventure. The wilderness has its surprises, and today it reveals the grandeur of a caribou, a symbol of strength and majesty. A massive bull crosses my path, a reminder that nature's wonders are boundless. Berries beckon, a gift from the land. I pause to gather a bountiful harvest, although their identity remains a mystery. A distant rumble announces a bear's presence, and instinct leads me to move forward, reminding me that every step in the wild is a calculated choice. Navigating the river's rhythm, I confront swift currents and waves that test my mettle. Among the challenges are the sweepers, lurking hazards demanding precision and strategy. Through the river's intricate braids, I venture, each channel a choice to be made. Nature's story unfolds in every bend, as evidenced by a moose skull hanging in an eerie display, a testament to the ages. An old burn zone comes into view, fireweed painting the landscape with a burst of color. As the sun begins its descent, a swift and narrow braid engulfs me, leading me astray. Concerns arise, but determination prevails, guiding me back to the main river's embrace. The journey continues, cliffs and a beaver lodge weaving their tales into the scenery. Night's curtain approaches, and I finally find respite in a riverside campsite after a day that covered an impressive 45 kilometers. Fatigue sets in, and a simple act of 'bushcraft' crafts a toothpick – a reminder that even in the wild, small comforts matter. Join me in this immersive adventure. Join me on a relentless journey down the creek, where surprises and challenges await at every bend. As we continue this extraordinary adventure, the wilderness reveals both its beauty and its tests. The creek's path ahead unfolds, and a newfound hope arises. Could the recent hot temperatures have breathed life into the waterways, perhaps melting more snow in the mountains? Negotiating the creek's tight bends becomes a thrilling dance, each turn demanding precision. An encounter with a treacherous sweeper tests my skill and determination, a reminder of the fine balance between conquest and humility. The journey leads me through shallow, braided sections of the river, a realm of crystal-clear waters. In this video, we share some of the best things to do in the Yukon, including Whitehorse, Dawson, Kluane National Park, and more! Welcome to the Yukon! Known for its dramatic landscapes, vast wilderness, and the famous Klondike Gold Rush, the Yukon has been capturing people's imaginations for years. With four-legged creatures far outnumbering humans, Canada's tallest mountain peaks, and the world's largest non-polar glacier, the Yukon is a true paradise for adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts. We started our journey in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. From here, we toured the SS Klondike, ate some delicious food in Whitehorse's oldest buildings, saw heaps of wildlife, and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights. We then went to Dawson, the worlds most famous gold rush town. While walking around the old boardwalk streets was incredible enough, we also went gold panning, toured the massive dredge #4, watched a Cancan show at the oldest casino in the country, and took a river cruise on a paddle-wheeler. We then drove up the infamous Dempster Highway all the way to Eagle Plains, past the Arctic Circle and into the Northwest Territories. After coming back and spending another night in Dawson, we drove to Kluane National Park for one of the most epic flightseeing tours we've ever experienced. We explored the Yukon from August 16 - September 6th, 2017! Special Note: We just released the Canada Saver Card, a physical discount card that gets you discounts at a variety of attractions, adventures, and activities across Canada! #yukonwild #aloneinthewild #bravewilderness The Yukon holds some of the World’s last large expanses of wilderness. It’s, brave wilderness - deep backcountry camping, remote wild camping in the full sense of the word as it’s well off grid and far from the road system. This is the full documentary about my survival in the woods where I’m truly alone in the wild and exploring the Yukon. After bush flying into a remote mountain lake, I head out solo camping and fishing on a wilderness travel adventure for fourteen days by canoe. On the trip, I paddle the advanced level whitewater of the Hess River and then follow the Stewart River, completing the trip some 400 kilometres later in the community of Mayo. On this adventure, I catch Arctic Grayling and Lake Trout. What’s better than catching wild Trout for a catch and cook over the fire while in the Yukon? I also find a remote traditionally-built trappers log cabin, run multiple whitewater rapids, undertake long, bushwhack portages and see a lot of wildlife. The Yukon is a place where dreams are made and where adventurers have been going to follow their dreams since the Klondike gold rush in the 1880s. As much as anyone, I went there to follow my dreams and they became a reality 0:00 Intro 1:04 Doc Start: Whitehorse 2:40 Float Plane Base: Alkan Air 8:22 Outfitting Canoe 12:18 Start of Trip 19:11 Morning Day 2 44:38 Morning Day 3 1:20:11 Morning Day 4 1:35:42 Morning Day 5 1:39:49 Trappers Cabin 2:10:29 Morning Day 6 2:23:38 Morning Day 7 2:44:38 Morning Day 8 3:23:50 Morning Day 9 3:48:38 Morning Day 10 4:02:15 Trappers Cabin 4:18:05 Morning Day 11: Final Day This long documentary version is basically all of the episodes from this adventure back to back with a few edits to shorten it down. It's a wilderness culinary experience you won't want to miss! 🌦️ Mother Nature doesn't hold back, and neither do I. These challenges test my mettle, making every paddle stroke a victory. 💫 My spirits run high throughout the trip as I discover breathtaking camp spots, including picturesque river islands that offer open-air bliss and respite from the mosquitoes. The deep silence and solitude of this pristine wilderness create moments of absolute bliss. 🌅 With the Yukon sun rising before 5 am and setting after 11 pm, the long paddling days are filled with opportunities to explore crystal-clear mountain creeks, go fishing, or simply bask in the purity of the wilderness. Sunny days mean swimming, laundry, and immersion in nature's beauty. 🔥 Distant wildfires add a touch of surreal beauty, filling the air with a hazy, smoky atmosphere that enhances your sensory experience. I take advantage of open sites to enjoy panoramic views and even set up my hammock in treed areas for stunning river views from my sleeping quarters. 🦅 Wildlife enthusiasts will be thrilled! #JimBairdAdventurer #Outdoors #Yukon Hart of the YUKON - 14 Days Solo Camping in the Yukon Wilderness - E.2 - Running Out of Water & Cooking Fish Stew Over the Fire "Embark on the next chapter of the 'Hart of the Yukon Solo' adventure series with Episode 2! In this gripping installment, I take on the challenges of a relentless shallow creek that proves to be both a test of endurance and a source of unexpected rewards. As the day begins, I find myself trudging through the shallows, dragging and wading my canoe for hours on end. The water's resistance, the weight of the canoe, and the unyielding terrain make for an arduous journey. But as the sun climbs higher, determination keeps me moving forward. Amid the struggle, I manage to catch three prized Arctic grayling, a small victory that infuses the journey with a glimmer of success. Yet, worry hangs in the air – the scorching heat and drought-like conditions raise concerns that the creek might soon dry up completely, adding a new layer of urgency to my quest. As day turns into evening, I'm faced with a decision. With the hour getting late, (about 8 pm), I opt for a decent camping spot, acknowledging the need for rest and shelter. The journey has taught me the value of pacing and planning, a wisdom that guides me to wait until the cooler hours to press on. Ingeniously, I rig up a tripod pot holder using logs, fashioning a cooking solution that turns my Arctic grayling into a delicious fish stew. As the savory aroma fills the air, it's a moment of triumph, a reward for both patience and resourcefulness. Join me as I navigate the delicate balance between the challenges of the wilderness and the rewards it offers. Subscribe to 'Hart of the Yukon Solo' for more captivating episodes, where every step brings us closer to the heart of true adventure."
