We’ve got our hands on the all-new BMW M3 CS, and it’s set to face off against the almighty BMW M4 CSL! So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the M3 CS, it’s based on the new BMW M3 xDrive, so it comes with a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet, which the power output increased from 510hp in the standard car, to 550hp. Torque remains the same, at 650Nm, and the car tips the scales at 1,765kg. It comes with all-wheel drive, and as new the car costs £116,000. Then we have the M4 CSL. Just like the M3, this car is based on the new M4. The power output is the same as the M3 CS, so the 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six puts down 550hp and 650Nm, but unlike the M3, this power is sent to the rear wheels only! However, it has one key advantage over the M3 - it weighs only 1,625kg! So how will this one play out - will it be a clean sweep four-wheel power? Or will the lighter car snatch it? It’s time for an epic RWD showdown! Mat’s got his hands on the all-new BMW M4 CSL, and he’s facing off against Yianni in the Porsche 911 GT3! So let’s see how these two rear-powered rockets compare. Starting with the BMW, it’s packing a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet that can deliver 550hp and 650Nm of torque. It’s 100kg lighter than the regular M4, tipping the scales at 1,625kg. If you want to pick one up, it’s pretty pricey, starting at £125,900! Then we have the Porsche. It’s got a 4-litre flat-six slung over the rear axle, that can put down 510hp and 470Nm of torque. It’s a fair bit lighter than the BMW, at 1,435kg, and it also costs a bit more, coming in at £135,700. So the Porsche is down on power - does that mean it’ll be a walkover for the BMW? Thanks to everyone for lending us their cars for this drag: - BMW F80 M3: 🤍 - Ford Mustang CS850: 🤍 It’s time for two tuned RWD monsters to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile! First up we have Mat in an F80 BMW M3. Normally this would be powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six, however in this instance, the two turbos have been switched for one massive turbo, and as a result, it can produce 950hp and 1,100Nm of torque! However, it can only hit that much power on a prepared surface while it’s rolling on drag slicks, and seeing as we have neither of them, the power has been dialled down to 850hp & 950Nm. Next up we have the Mustang. Under the bonnet it’s powered by a 5-litre V8, however, this one has had a supercharger added to it, so the output is now 859hp and 902Nm!! The BMW also has one key advantage over the Mustang - it comes with an automatic gearbox, while the Mustang is a manual! Will the transmission prove the difference?
