#bydseal #teslamodel3 #electriccars Read the BYD Seal review: 🤍 If there’s one car that has come to define the electric car revolution, it has to be the Tesla Model 3. Millions have been sold since its introduction, making it the best-selling electric car in the world. So you might be wondering why nobody has thought about doing the same. Why aren’t our roads full of sleek, slippery saloons with efficiency that none of its competitors come close to matching? Finally, that situation could be about to change. Six years after the Model 3 arrived, BYD is set to release what appears to be a worthy alternative. The Seal is part of BYD’s Ocean range of electric cars and UK bosses are planning to bring the first batch in before the end of the year. The Seal’s arrival will bookend what will be a remarkable assault on the UK car market from BYD. From no presence whatsoever at the start of 2023, BYD plans to have three models (Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal) in UK showrooms. The Seal will be offered in the UK in two versions - rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive – badged Design and Excellence. The rear-drive version comes with 308bhp while the all-wheel drive version offers 523bhp. Which is a lot. The rear-drive version can go from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, while the all-wheel drive one does the same in 3.9 seconds. The AWD model’s straight line acceleration feels every bit as quick as those figures suggest. Both versions come with an 82.5kWh battery as standard which uses cobalt-free LFP chemistry and BYD’s blade design that places all the cells into thin ‘blades’ that allow for a higher density of energy. The Seal also features what BYD calls Cell to Body construction. That’s a fancy way of saying that the battery is used as part of the structure of the car rather than just being bolted in. Meet the BYD Atto 3! You might not have heard of BYD before, but we can assure you it’s highly likely you’ve come into contact with one of its products before! It started out producing batteries, and it’s now moved into the business of building its own cars! But are they any good? Well starting with the design, we’re getting some serious Cupra Born vibes from the back. Elsewhere though, the exterior looks are relatively generic. That’s not to say it’s a bad-looking car - it just doesn’t do much to stand out from the crowd. It’s also available in a choice of 5 colours, and there are three different trim levels available. However, things become a bit more interesting on the inside! The design is apparently inspired by a gym, although we’re having trouble connecting that with what we can see. One thing we can’t miss on the inside, however, is the huge 15” infotainment screen that dominates the dash! It’s super clear and pretty responsive, with all infotainment features controlled via its touchscreen. The practicality is pretty good, too, with large storage areas in the centre console. There’s just one battery and motor combination available with the Atto 3 - a single 201hp motor mounted to the front axle, coupled with a 60kWh battery pack. This comes with a claimed range of 260 miles. The question is, can it really warrant the £36,000 starting price, especially when there are so many all-electric SUVs to choose from already?! New BYD Seal 2023 in-depth Walkaround The BYD Seal is a fully electric sedan that has been built using BYD's latest vehicle platform. Equipped with dual motors and an AWD driving system, this vehicle is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates 530 HP (389 kW) of engine power and 670 Nm of torque. With a maximum speed of 180 km/h, the BYD Seal can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The car is fitted with an 82.5 kWh battery that provides a range of 650 km (403 miles) on a single charge. The DC charge rate is 150 kW, which allows the car to be charged to 80% in just 25 minutes. Alternatively, an AC charge rate of 11 kW can charge the vehicle in 7.5 hours. The urban consumption of the BYD Seal is measured at kWh/100km, while the suburban consumption is also rated at kWh/100km. The average consumption is 14.6 kWh/100km, and the car has an average MPGe of 0. In terms of its dimensions, the BYD Seal has a weight of 2150 kg, a length of 4800 mm, a width of 1875 mm, and a height of 1460 mm. Overall, the BYD Seal is an impressive electric sedan that offers both power and range, making it a strong contender in the electric vehicle market. Millions have been sold since its introduction, making it the best-selling electric car in the world. So you might be wondering why has nobody thought about doing the same. Why aren’t the roads full of sleek, slippery saloons with almost unearthly efficiency? Now, six years after the Model 3 arrived, BYD is finally having a go. The Seal is part of BYD’s Ocean range of electric cars and it’s coming to UK later this year with the sole aim of stealing sales away from the market leader. The Seal will be the third BYD model to come to the UK following the Atto 3, which launched in March, and the Dolphin, which is due by the end of the year. It’s 4.8 metres long, 1.9 metres wide and 1.5 metres high. Which makes it almost identical to the Tesla Model 3. What a coincidence… The Seal will be offered in the UK in two versions - rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The rear-drive version comes with 308bhp while the all-wheel drive version offers 523bhp. Which is a lot. The rear-drive version can go from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, while the all-wheel drive one does the same in 3.9 seconds. Which is pretty quick. Both versions come with an 82kWh battery as standard which uses LFP chemistry and BYD’s blade design. Join Mike as he takes a close look around the new BYD Seal at its European reveal in Barcelona.
