Welcome to the third episode of Pro Audio Loft. Our FREE YouTube tutorial series on Pro Audio. In this episode our head engineer Larry will dive in the comparison between Solid State Logic (SSL) Fusion against its software emulation, the Acustica Audio Celestial in treating the print mixbus. Make sure to have a listen to this comparison and tell me your opinion! Thank you for the video but the comparison is wrong, you should use the Celestial MixBus or Mastering version, these versions have the stereo expander and the high compressor. And for the test to be more fair the audio file should be at least 48k_24bit, the higher the sampling rate the plugins respond better.
Hey, I own both. The Fusion definitely sounds thicker. I do use the Celestial on the go with my Surface pro .
Folks, keep in mind one thing --> Acustica plugins get really really close to gear if you use a higher samplerate, for example if you use celestial in a project at 192khz or even 96khz the sound you will get out of it would be literally around 85% of the sound of real gear, which is still not the same as gear but quite close, really good compromise in my opinion considering the price difference. Sure thing you'll need to kill your cpu, but i mean every daw has a freezing option , so not really a problem. Dunno about the compressors but in the plugin world when it comes to equalizers and their harmonic/saturation behaviour AA are the best.
Thanks for the comparison but you can easily see on the meters how the hardware signal is simply louder. *EDIT, SEE BELOW FOR UPDATE.
I got Celestial for free - so the differece between the plugin and the hardware is about 2.000 bucks. Not sure if it sounds like 2k.
Hi, thanks for the video. If you can send me the processed file from hardware and raw unprocessed file. I will send you back how two files will be near identical, hard to distinguish. :)
You can check me channel, did two caliberated hardware files vs ITB shootouts.
Thanks for the effort. It's a bit of a pity that the example song got such terrible congested production/mix. . Having only a overwhelmingly heavy pulsating track with a lot of suction that literally defines the whole song isn't a great choice either and renders the comparison into a pretty small window/almost useless
Grazie per il video. Non credo che ci sia paragone fra le due cose a cominciare dal prezzo. Il Fusion è proprio un'altra cosa, ma anche 2000 euro di differenza sono un'altra cosa. Bisognerebbe valutare anche generi diversi...
Amazing work of Acustica! The Celestial plugin is simply fantastic! Thanks for your video.
I'd like to also see comparison of the fusion being used as a mix bus coloration device - especially using the insert and mid/side processing too.
acustica plugin was lower in volume. the mix could be improved by a lot btw
Nice content!
bass sounds a bit thin on the Celestial. top end sounds a bit thing too. ): damn. analog just cant be beat ...
